We are mainly funded by generous people and businesses like you!
As a non-profit animal welfare organization that does not receive any funding from any municipalities, we rely on the generosity of our supporters. We have all the same expenses as any other businesses (mortgage, utilities, maintenance, supplies, etc). Additionally, we have major vet bills, ranging from $12,000 to $15,000 each month, because we believe in providing more than just core vaccines. We believe in providing the animals in our care everything they need to be completely healthy. We also believe that a healthy body is not complete without a healthy mind, so we have a dedicated trainer and an enrichment person on our staff to make sure our dogs and cats are getting everything they need to transition to forever homes. Because we also believe in being a resource for our community, we host low cost community cat and dog spay/neuter clinics every week, provide TNR services for feral community cats, and help pet owners find other resources such as training, grooming, and rehoming services. Finally, one unique service we provide is free transport of death row dogs to no-kill rescues. We are the only rescue/shelter in Iowa with a dedicated transport program because we believe a free ride means a second chance at life for so many. All of these things cost a lot of money annually. Our Everyday Giving Fund will provide the funding we need to continue our rescue efforts throughout the year and for years to come!
