This #GivingTuesday, December 2rd, AHeinz57 Pet Rescue & Transport is on a mission to raise $20,000 to save and care for homeless dogs who have nowhere else to turn.

Every day, we rescue animals from overcrowded shelters, provide safe haven and loving foster homes, and find forever families for the ones who’ve been forgotten. Right now, more than 250 animals are depending on us for food, shelter, medical care, and love.

Dogs like Sugar and her 5 puppies. When they were found we have no idea if there were more that did not survive. They were full of fleas and parasites. We had to wait more than a week to get them to the rescue because they were not healthy enough to travel. They had clearly been out on their own for an incredible period of time. Sugar made it clear that she was done nursing when they arrived at the shelter and she went directly to foster to recover and build up her strength. Sadly when Sugar was checked out at the vet blood tests showed that she was heartworm positive and will need to receive painful and expensive treatment for her heartworm. But the happy ending for Sugar is in sight. The AHeinz volunteer that facilitated her last leg of transport to the rescue absolutely fell in love with her. She and her family will be adopting Sugar and seeing her through her heartworm treatment in her new home.
